I have to admit, when I first read about Twitter, I did not think there could be any real use for it from a business perspective...boy was I was wrong!

  • I would like to know who has made any money being a twit. It makes us think we are so important that some other twit is sitting at his or her computer waiting for me to give them a second by second update on my next visit to the bathroom. Twitting is only good for those who have nothing better to do and need to have some sort of contact with the outside world, problem is that the movers and shakers are not sitting there twitting, they are out moving and shaking. Twitting has no value what so ever. I dare anyone to show us all some sort of financial gain.

  • There is definitely a use for Twitter on a business level. This site was originally designed as a business site not a personal social site where people announce their next drinking binge.
It is a useful site for driving traffic to your website, but that is a subject for a webinar or blog. I am @tpritz. Follow me.

  • I have to admit to being somewhat of a dinasaur in this arena........I use a phone for a phone, don't IM or Text and wouldn't know what to do with a photo on my phone if I took one with it. I have been interested in determining the value of "Social Networking" for business purposes...........which is why I joined up on the Construction Exchange........will have to explore it and see how it works???

    • Look at social networking as "regular" networking and you'll see the value. People do business with people they know and social networking is a great way to get to "know" a lot of people you might not otherwise have a chance to meet. And it's a terrific way to share ideas (especially important in this economy) with people across the country. The big thing is that it's not going away, so it's a good thing to explore. :)

  • Recently started a blog for us and at a meeting this morning I was told to sign up with twitter.

    Here's our twitter ID http://twitter.com/pcba
New to this but will be signing up to follow everyone

    • Beth,

You now have a follower. You need to add some text to the 'profile' for pcba. That is how potential followers will be able to find you.

Use as many 'keywords' (that describe your service offering) as possible.

Good luck and if you have any questions, just ask.

  • I just signed up and have not worked with it, honestly not quite sure how it works yet. However, I am involved in several groups with related construction or architectural conversations. I signed up with the thought to use it as I have heard described here. I think its a good idea. I could just use a little help.

  • There is a feed configured to automatically Twitter new discussions to http://twitter.com/ConstructionEx we are also looking to automatically re-twitter people who primarily tweet about construction. Maybe when a pictures get a high rating it may also get an automatic tweet.

  • I just signed up. I'll have to mess around with it for a little while to see exactly what you are supposed to do on it.
